Special Collections
While in the special collections section of Ellis yesterday, I found myself more interested in how the books were set up and put together than the actual context of what was inside of them. I really liked how the books and works from the medieval times were constructed. You could tell that there was a lot of time put in to the creation of those works. If I had books that were so elegantly designed I feel like I would have a lot more of an incentive to read. Maybe that's what's wrong with reading in our generation? Probably not, but you never know. I really like how they started each sentence with either a red or blue letter. Back then, they even knew that those colors could catch your eye. I have always been interested in things like that, things that the human body does subconsciously. I wish that books did that today, but I am sure because of costs that publishing companies would not be inclined to put red and blue ink all over their books.
