Special Collections
I actually enjoyed visiting the special collections section of the library. I've never been on that floor of the library let along that section. I've always wondered about book preservation and the translation of texts into modern languages. It is overwhelming to consider looking over some of the older documents like the scroll of Ruth and trying to decipher it. I'd be too afraid that it would fall apart in my hands. It's incredible to consider how far writing has come. It was once in the form of scrolls hand written by monks and is now readable on the internet. I also enjoyed learning how papyrus is made. I always thought it was from bamboo for some reason, but the flattened reeds seems like a much more conventional way of doing it.
