I very much enjoyed reading the first act in Othello, and I wanted to discuss Christ like behaviors in Othello, because it has been a much talked about topic in class recently. Othello seems like a great character, and on like 58-59 Othello says, "Keep up your bright swords, for the dew will rust them." This is when Brabantio and the officer are coming to find him, this scene is related to Jesus when he knows that he is going to be taken down and crucified. I looked up the Bible verse and Jesus says to Paul, " Put up thy sword into the sheath." Just as the officers are looking for Jesus, the officer and Brabantio are looking for Othello to try to get some answers from him. Going to a private Catholic school my whole life, we were able to pick these same sort of passages in my english classes back in high school, so it's great that I'm revisiting them in college. Why do you think so many different works during the Renaissance related to Christ in some way? Why would Roderigo care so much about a woman who doesn't even notice him?

Christianity and the Renaissance didnt always see eye to eye and maybe it was a current issue to play on for his audience the way we sometimes mix politics and entertainment. Just a guess
